Smooth Ceiling Finishing in Utah Valley
A smooth ceiling is the mark of a well-finished home or business. After removing any texture, we skim coat, sand, prime, and paint to achieve a perfectly flat ceiling surface — whether it's a single residential room or an entire commercial space.

Smooth ceiling finishing is the final step that separates a good job from a great one. After the texture is removed, the drywall underneath is often uneven, scarred, and imperfect. That's where our skim coat work comes in.
What Is a Skim Coat?
A skim coat is a thin layer of drywall compound applied across the entire ceiling surface. It fills in any remaining texture marks, gouges, and imperfections, creating a uniform, flat base for paint. When done correctly, a skim coat and proper sanding will leave a ceiling that's completely smooth — you won't be able to tell there was ever texture there.
Our Finishing Process
1. First coat — We apply a skim coat of joint compound across the ceiling using wide trowels and smoothing knives.
2. Dry and inspect — We let it cure and inspect for any remaining imperfections.
3. Second coat (if needed) — Many ceilings need two passes for a truly flat finish.
4. Sanding — We sand the ceiling flat using a long-pole sander and fine-grit sandpaper.
5. Prime — We apply a quality drywall primer to seal the compound and prep for paint.
6. Paint — We apply one to two coats of flat ceiling paint in the color of your choice.
