Ceiling Texture Removal in Utah Valley
Not all ceiling texture is the same, and not all of it is popcorn. We remove all types of ceiling texture — orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, and heavy acoustic texture — from residential homes, rental properties, and commercial spaces throughout Utah Valley.

Ceiling texture comes in many forms, and all of them can be removed to achieve a smooth, modern finish. Here's a quick breakdown of what we handle:
Orange Peel Texture
Orange peel is a light, dimpled texture that resembles — you guessed it — orange peel. It's common in homes built from the 1980s to today. Removing orange peel typically involves light sanding or skim coating and is one of the cleaner jobs we do.
Knockdown Texture
Knockdown is a heavier texture created by splattering drywall compound and then partially smoothing (knocking down) the peaks. It has a mottled, uneven surface that some people like and others find dated. We remove it by skim coating over the surface until it's smooth.
Skip Trowel
Skip trowel is applied by hand and creates an artsy, handmade look. To achieve a smooth ceiling from skip trowel, we skim coat and sand until flat.
Popcorn / Acoustic Texture
Popcorn is the most common texture we remove. See our Popcorn Ceiling Removal page for the full process.
The Right Approach for Your Ceiling
Not every ceiling requires the same approach. We assess your specific texture type and condition before recommending a removal method. In some cases, skim coating over existing texture is the most efficient path; in others, we need to scrape or sand. We'll tell you exactly what your ceiling needs during the free estimate.
